"Visual Splice" - võimas kogemus / impressive experience

9. augusti etendusõhtul tõid lavale oma etenduse "Visual Splice" (2013) festivali rahvusvahelised külalised Mile Zero Dance (MZD) Edmontonist Kanadast. /

August 9th the international guests of the festival, the Edmonton-based canadian company Mile Zero Dance (MZD) performed "Visual Splice" (2013).

Etendusõhtu algas seekord hoopis lava tagumises ruumis, mis muutus nö väikeseks lavaks ja kus sai näha tantsijat ja muusikut diivanitel stiilsete lampide valguses aeglaselt liikuma ja moodustama nö ajatut vaikeelu pilti vanuritest, kelle mälu vaikselt kaob ja kes lakamatult otsivad midagi. Õhtu teine pool jätkus suurel laval. Kõik mis suurel laval juhtus on nö live ja seda, nagu kunstnikud varasemalt välja tõid, ükski salvestus ei saa säilitada. Lisaks sisendusliku jõuga publikut haaranud tantsijale, Gerry Moritale, liikusid laval ka helilooja Shawn Pinchbeck heliseva, võimendatud ja efektidega teisendatud metallist objektiga ning kunstnik Patrick Arès-Pilon, kes pani vanaaegseid projektorimasinaid elama. Tegemist oli võimsa kogemusega, mh võis näha, kuidas valgus ja vanaaegsete fimiprojektorite pildid müstiliselt liiguvad laval, tantsija kehal ja lae pealt ripuvatel pikatel valgetel paberiribadel ja vahest ka üle publiku. Muusika toetas sugestiivselt ja katkematult laval toimuvat. Raadiofooonilised 1950ndate aastate Kanada peaministri kõnekatkendid lõid põnevustki juurde ja kandsid osaliselt tugevalt poliitilis-ühiskondlikku sõnumit, mis vabalt sobib ka meie aega. Kui jõuti etendust lõpetava kulminatiivse stseenini, mil tantsija rebis paberkonstruktsioonid maha ja mässis end nendesse sisse, oleksin soovinud, et etendus just sellest hetkest oleks jätkunud võimaldades selleks hetkeks saavutatud võimsat energiat edasi kogeda, mis, nagu ehtsal kunstil omane, viibki uuele tasemele... /

The performance evening started this time in the back stage room, which became the small stage where the dancer and the musician could be observed moving around and sitting in chairs in the light of old fashion lamps forming a somehow timeless slow motion still picture of old people loosing their memory and searching for something. The second part of the evening took place in the bigger black box stage. All what happened there was live and it is, as the artists earlier underlined, impossible to record or store its atmosphere or liveness. Together with the dancer, Gerry Morita, who captured the audience inspiringly, also the composer Shawn Pinchbeck moved on stage with a metallic object causing amplified and modified sounds and the artist Patrick Arès-Pilon gave life to the old-school film projectors. It was a powerful experience, one could barely follow the lights of the old films on stage, the ripping long white paper sheets and partly over the audience as well. The music supported suggestively and continuously the stage action. Radiophonic fragments of speeches of the Canadian premier minister of the 1950s increased the excitement carrying a strong political-social message which fits very well also into our present time. If the performance reached the tensional highpoint as the end of the show the dancer started to destroy the ripping paper sheets and messed around with them. I wished the performance would have been continued right in this moment, because it reached such an state of energy which would have enabled to remain on that higher level created by real art...
